Contribute to the Australian Women’s Archives Project
Support a committee
The NFAW has established a national AWAP Management Committee to oversee and manage the total project. Membership includes selected Board representatives and professional experts with backgrounds in archives, librarianship and history.
Local committees operate in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. They are established by the NFAW Board on a case by case basis and report to the Board through the AWAP Management Committee.
Local committees:
- Identify archives that are of interest to the Project and broker suitable archival arrangements;
- Liaise with archival institutions;
- Develop fund raising strategies to support the Project.
An Executive Officer is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Project, including the maintenance of high academic standards in the preparation of entries. If you are interested in contributing to the work of AWAP or if you have general enquiries please contact the Executive Officer via email: awap@womenaustralia.info .
The postal address is

Contribute entries to the on-line register
We are pleased to receive information from members of the public on women or women’s organisations that may be suitable for inclusion on the Register. Standard formats have been developed for the submission of information.
Forms
Very often, when people conduct research to write new entries for people or organisations, they discover new archival holdings. These can also be added to the register:
- Submit information about archives or records that are not already listed on the register
Please fill the forms in as completely and accurately as possible. You will find instructions on how to do this on each form. Please follow them carefully. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact the AWAP Executive Officer.
NB: Images can be processed as well. There is no separate form for the submission of images, however, they should be sent with a completed pro forma relating to the person or organisation appearing in the image.
When you have completed your entries, please submit them via email attachment to the AWAP Executive Officer at awap@womenaustralia.info.
Within a policy framework set by the AWAP Management Committee, the Executive Officer is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Register, including the maintenance of high academic standards in the preparation of entries. It is her decision whether entries are suitable for inclusion in the Register. In view of this, you may wish to discuss your proposed entry with her before completing the pro forma.
The Executive Officer is also responsible for the allocation of priorities within a given work program, including when time may be allocated to upload one-off entries to the Register.
As the NFAW is a not for profit organisation, funds are tight and an entry loading charge may be applied. The Executive Officer can advise you as to whether such a charge will apply.
You may also wish to seek the advice of a professional historian in the researching of material for data entries. This is likely to be in the order of $300.00 (plus GST) per entry.
